the inside out of a petrol pump

Just started my latest project -a small engine shed and workshop in 1/24th scale.
The scene includes a petrol pump like the one in the enclosed photo.Is ther any one out there who understands the workings of these pumps? the motor at the bottom drives a pump I presume but what does the top pulley drive and what pipe goes were ? . I have tried to get information from pump restoration people here in England but they only want to sell you a pump. Any help would be much appreciated.

Barney,    I have 354 gas pump pictures in my picture file   all of them are older Gas Pumps.... i was hopeing i could come up with a picture you could use but no luck

Well , Barney Old Bean , if you don't know and/or can't find out what the inside of a pump should look like then the rest of us won't know either so we won't know if it is wrong or not . So get your artist license out and get the model finished . Just give it lots of cogs and wheels and you won't go wrong ,

PS -- I'm just guessing here ... but this diagram shows a modern pump ... GUESSING that your pump might include a belt to set the mechanical counters / displays in motion ... coinciding with the number of revolutions of the actual pump ... or something like that.  Possible that the lower large pulley wheel actually drives the pump and the upper one drives the counter / display ...

I just saw this thread and might be able to add something useful. 
We're in the heating oil/gas business and deal with pumps every day.
