Bingham Canyon, UT

While doing an image search for old buildings, I found some pics and info about a place called Bingham Canyon. The town that once existed there is long gone, the entire area having been excavated as the mine expanded. But looks like it would have been a cool prototype for modeling. The town was built in a canyon so narrow, there was only one street, with buildings squeezed in on each side of it. There were lots of railroad tracks and bridges too.

I live nearby and never knew about this place.  Maybe Copperton is what's left of that town, or maybe a relocation of that town farther down the canyon.  Cool photos, thanks for sharing.  Northern Utah used to be such a buzz with mining activity, (before my time time anyway.) but about all that's left now is Rio Tinto, (formerly Kennecott Copper) and some small mine near Eureka.

Very interesting photos Ray.   I found one building that I'd like to model, the Post Office.   May give it a try if I can find more photos of the backside and top views.

Being located in a narrow, steep canyon, they had a lot of trouble with stuff crashing down the mountainsides. Avalanches, boulders, trains, etc. Oddly enough, I haven't seen any mention yet of flashfloods.
