I thought I would try to mass produce some office interior bits in HO.  While the work is no Ken Hamilton, I think it turned out OK. I should have spent more time on coloring the books a little less brightly.
Cheers!

Especially the loose papers and the bended journals are great!

I'll make it. If I have to fly the five feet like a birdie.
I'll fly it. I'll make it.

Neat little scene. I too would not have guessed it was HO.

Can you tell us a bit about the materials and process used?

Thanks for posting this.

Hi Marc,

The cabinets and bookshelves are made from Laser Engrave resin impregnated board (laserboard) and basswood.  The file cabinets are a front veneer of 0.015 laserboard, engraved, and then 2 layers of 0.125 basswood. I used some putty to clean up the lamination seams and sanded finish and painted.

The bookshelves are a front frame of laserboad along with an engraved layer of laser board representing the books. Some are cut out for the angled books. Then I duplicated the cut outs on the basswood layers. The books are colored by dyeing the layer black and then drybrushing white and finished up by marking the books in color with felt pens of various colors.

The desk and chair a all cut from laserboard and assembled much like a full sized desk carcas.  Little prints of life magazines and some paper bits round out the scene.

Nice diorama. Your scratchbuilt building interior surpasses the laser cut exterior despite good kit construction and finish. Next time scratchbuild the whole thing and blow us away completey! -- Russ
