A splendid little boat. -- Russ

Bill Gill

She's a nifty looking little boat. I'm studying her steam engine because I want to model a small steam launch in HO scale for my son who once thought about converting an old refrigerator compressor into a steam engine and install it in a small hull.

Hello Russ,Bill,Sami and Bernard.
As always a very warm thank you for your interest.
I am sure we all have the same debate in our minds -what will be the colour and finish I really don't want to mess it up with a bad finish. It is even worse when the reference photos are black and white and 100 years old.
My approach is to stain the wood first with water-based artist inks and build it up from there, gently doing it.
Here we have some more photos of the build-up and some colour.
So far the materials are strip wood and styrene all fabricated. At some stage, I will add some commercial products like the propeller and the boat wheel.
Cheers.

I love it. The weathering and coloring are just right for this stage. If you continue in the same way, this may be your best boat yet. -- Russ

Bernhard

I like that too. It looks very realistic.
