What is everone using to make there wheels rusty looking?
I think I'll just paint them with red primer.
Anything better?

rust comes in so many colors from bright orange (fresh and not likely) to a very dark brown.

Best thing to do is make a jig with holes in it to protect the treads. Use a material the same thickness as the tread.

I usually use a combination of burnt umber and brown(s)

Most of mine, I airbrush them first with Floquil roof brown and then Floquil rust. Never bother to mask the tread, I just use the Mac McCalla trick of wiping the tread with a Q-tip dipped in thinner when I'm through.
