The Kiwi Bushtram Project

Since I was last december and January in New Zealand I knew this is what I want. Not the normal logging layout somwhere in North America, but almost the same thing only in New Zealand. Hoping to make the differences between it. It's the first time for me building like this. I was used at European modelling, like our project Grolschwitz. Now, on my own I want to finish this Bushtram project without any time pressure. And that is also something new for me...  ;D

This building from Classic Miniatures was the first one I build. I know, it's not a Marcel Ackle, but I am pleased with it. Ronald will help me with the tracklaying and therefore his family gets my dog for a week...  ;D

Hello Henk,

I share your sentiments about NZ bush tramways a 100%. I love this "everything goes" and "the cheaper, the better" attitude these people had. No boisterous Weyerhaeuser Co. here.

Should you need some additional info, contact me off-list.

No problem, Russ. My English is a still bit rusty, mit Deutsch kenn ich mich noch aus, spreek ook vrij aardig Nederlands and lost all my school French...  ;D

Hope to learn some Kiwi Slang from the family overseas... and build a Kiwi logging layout in this life.

Hello,

et on peu dire que ce batiment minier, un peu dans le style Gilpin a un très bon look!
Comme dit Marc Russer, le seul vrais language ici, est celui du modélisme.
Also, my english is limited and rusty !
Sincerely!

Lloyd

Henk,

The following three images are from the August 2001 NZModel Railway Journal, from an article about Ngatira, by Paul Mahoney. The photographs were taken by Paul Berntsen in 1974. They show/are of the Bogies that Krusty showed the drawings of.

Some more Bush Tram pics I ran across.  These are from the Book "New Zealand Steam Locomotives By Official Number" by Gerald Petrie

That last photo looks like a bunch of disconnects with a steamed up boiler on top.
    No rivitcounters....................what a freedom.

Eagerly awaiting what you are coming up with Henk, especially when Ronald is helping you ;) ;)
