Thanks Ray! Here's a sunshine shot of the decal:

Small progress this weekend. Rusting and streaking continues, but it is finally starting to abate. I started the drain back pipe on the side. This was used to drain the gas from the glass cylinder using the hose. A composite of brass tubing, a brass elbow casting and scary-delicate printed cap parts. The pump handle mount was also installed, made from brass wire and Plastruct hex stock. Ready for painting.

Glad to see you using all sorts of parts, not just the PAP stuff.
Decal looks better than excellent.

Chuck,   I really like the way the pump is coming along ;)  Here's some suggestions i got kicking around in the old melon :D about how to paint or color the drain back pipe. You can paint the pipe the same color as the pump from the cap down as this would be right !! then another way would be galvanized pipe from the cap down. [see picture]  and a nice old rustie lock would look good locking the CAP. On the pump handle i was trying to find some pictures to see if it had any wood on the top of the handle on each side of the cast handle top....but couldnt come up with anything :-\ if that style of pump would have wood on the handle or not.  Notice the color of the part were the handle goes to.   Craig

Thanks All! Thanks for that Wayne pic Craig! Good ideas; I'm pretty sure I will try for some galvy grey poking thru. All the 615 pics I have show an all metal handle. I did a greyish pump mount with some old white. I would like to do a pump in that mega rusty condition too.

OK, I'm looking at the photo from Craig and Chuck's pump and ... well, sorry Craig, Chuck's looks more real.

Chuck,
You know, I have been looking at your modeling work in Russ's magazines for a few years and enjoying the build logs here on the site for the last year or so and I really can't say anything that would be new, different, or original, about your model work.

Every time I see a new post by you I quickly check it out and just sit and shake my head and think
"so that is how Michelangelo did it"

Thank you for sharing your rare talent.

I really love this overall piece and the tips you're giving. You're one of those people that I love to follow as it gives me something to strive for and work towards as well as learn from. Keep the updates coming!

Painted drain back pipe in white over galvanized. Used same technique as the filler pipe I did a while back. Did the rusty cap and pipe threads as seen on real ones.

Testors Flat Black from the can
Then thinned Polly Scale L and N Grey
Hairspray then Dullcoat sealer
Polly Scale White brushed on
Chipped
Gwosh touch ups on exposed grey portions and gwosh rust

Will do the usual touchups when I install it.
