An old sofa, ice chest (freezer), and tires.....staples of Southern front yards.

Well once you have the sofa, you've got to have an ice chest... saves all that wear and tear on the shoes going in and out of the house for another beer  ;). You know though you live in a bad neighborhood when you have to chain the fridge to the front porch so no one will steal it...

I'm with Jacq on this... definitely an old Indian or a knucklehead (that's a vintage Harley, not an aspersion on any forum administrator  ;D ;D)

Hmm, a Motorcycle might just fit...

Thanks for the link, Craig. I haven't decided on the type or era of pump yet. If I get bored, it might just be a rusty pipe sticking out of the island!

I finished the garage doors and mounted them to the wall. They still need a bit of touch ups and some chains and padlocks to keep them closed.

Same window construction using real wood, glass and putty. The decals are from Microscale. The ones on the glass were applied and then lightly wet sanded with 1500 grit sandpaper. The one under the window was doused liberally with Micro-Sol, and then carefully soda blasted at 15 PSI to remove some color and to dull it. The no parking sign was found on Flickr. I straightened it and added some chips and drips in Photoshop. It was printed on Epson presentation paper, and then covered with burnished Scotch magic tape. I cut it out and embossed some nail heads with a homemade punch and die in my drill press. Then some soda blasting to dull the tape and a touch of powders N gwosh.

Yes Mr. Doan has shown us once again why he is one of the best.  Its the details, details, details.

Just excellent.  Great on how to do it, now if I could only do it.

Chuck,
Could probaly cut and paste a comment I've probably made on your work somewhere previously...I think I've run out of different ways of adding appreciation and praise.  Not really much chance of the standard dropping, the workmanship is simply outstanding.  Is that an old version of the "Groveland Garage" sign chopped up and mounted behind one of the garage door windows?  I like the slipped glass pane as well, something different as opposed to a bit of cracked glass.

Top notch viewing,
Dan

Extremely inspirational, Chuck. Thanks for the update. You are setting an international standard. -- Russ

Thanks Jerry! Get busy!

Thanks Dan. Yes, I found a use for my cast-off signs. I broke a big chunk out of one of the panes while carving the putty.
I also found several photos on Flickr showing old windows with whole panes slipped out and stuck in the frame...seemed like an interesting thing to try. Amazing how far they can go and not break.

Thanks Russ!

   Chuck ,

I saw it yesterday ( because I was at the show ), and it certainly was a fine piece of work . However , it didn't quite have the " used and abused" look that sets your work apart from everyone elses . It was one of the standout dioramas with more imagination used than most on offer . I did take some photos but haven't downloaded them yet so I haven't a clue how well they turned out . I don't expect them to be better than what has been posted .

Chuck, stunning work as usual can't wait to see all your detail after seeing Spencer's diorama. Pat

Nick, where were the pics of show posted? Thanks Pat

I can't believe you actually glaze your windows in but then when I see what they look like I can't imagine any other way to achieve the look. Great stuff Chuck, hat's off.

Thanks! Pat, I won't even attempt that level of detail! Spence must have a spare room full of parts.

Heres a couple of window pics from Flickr I used as reference:
