Why the Stacker is Stagnant.....

Several of you (okay....maybe one or two) have wondered about the slow progress on the Lumber Stacker.

It got sidetracked for a little "figure" project.  Long story short:  Virgil Suarez ("Damn Cranky", who posts
here from time to time) built a small 1:25th scale sceniced base and had an idea that he would send it
around the country to 4 other car modelers, who would add something of their choice to the base and
forward it to the next guy. No rules, no restriction, no-holds-barred.  I got it last, and I'll be delivering
it back to Virgil at the Birmingham Show (...model cars...) at the end of this month.

This doesn't really relate to anything here, but my part includes a couple of figures
that I thought maybe you'd like to see.

The first figure started with legs & hips from a 1/25th scale Tamiya "Campus Friends" figure and a
Preiser torso, all repositioned and pinned together:



Next came the arms (Tamiya) and head (Preiser):



With some automotive body putty and glue-soaked tissue paper, the figure started to take shape:



With a few more tissue paper details & paint, the figure is just about done.  There will be
another figure operating the clasp (that's all I can say right now):



It's part of a larger scene so the figure isn't really super-detailed, but the idea will be there.
I can't show the rest of the diorama (Virgil might be lurking) but if you're interested I'll
post more pictures and a better history after the Birmingham show.

Sure, blame it on me.  All I was trying to do was get an original piece built by some extremely talented builders without letting them catch on it would be coming back to me!!!

Of course, the torture has been on me because it's been gone for almost a year and I have NO IDEA what you guys have done to it.  Last time I saw it it looked like this:







I have no idea how these figures you are building fit into the scene, but I am sure as heck anxious to be WOWED by what you guys have done.

You can imagine how I feel.  I have no idea what these guys have done to the scene, but I'm anxious as heck.  Ken is bringing it down to the Alabama Show in just a matter of days.

Who are the other contributors to the project?

In their order of receiving the diorama:

1)  Jim Fernandez (Utah).  He set the initial bar with an really creative direction.
2)  Dave Roehrle (PA)
3)  Narayan Khandekar (MA)
4)  Mike Napoleon (NJ)
5)  Me.

The first four guys are some of the most creative diorama builders in the automotive hobby.
I'll certainly post some finished pictures. When you see them you'll realize just where Jim's
imagination took this project........

Oh, the teasing is killing me, but luckily I will be seeing it in person for the first time at the BAMA show.  Not only that, but the other treat is going to be seeing BAD PENNY, Hollywood Jim's Steampunk masterpiece.
